Amidst the excitement of helping Nik find new furniture for his new house this weekend, there was a new arrival in the paddock at Galleywood.
Last week, Lucy, a 7 year-old mare (of ex-racing horse pedigree no less), joined Desmond in the stable shed at the top of the field. Grey, dappled, and pretty, she came and introduced herself to us, and will take Freddie‘s place as Desmond’s grazing companion.
The furniture finding trip proved fruitful, and we enjoyed trips to Battlesbridge (where we met mum and Bart for tea in china cups, complete with waxy tablecloths) and Thurrock (where we shopped for the furniture).
Not as stressful as anticipated, the busy days gave way to enjoyable and relaxing card-playing evenings. A seemingly never-ending stream of food kept us full, and fuelled our tactical minds, with each of us taking turns in the winner’s circle.
The weather even stayed bright and sunny (if a little breezy), and allowed all of us to appreciate the first jobbing weekend around the new house. Even that was bright and sunny, bathed in natural light, and will no doubt be a happy place in which to spend time, giving visitors an equally sunny welcome.
All in all, a winning weekend in every sense of the word.

I am very disappointed there are no pictures of the exquisite tea house! But the lovely Lucy looks indeed very pretty with her long eyelashes, no doubt Desmond will be fluttering his at her once he has gotten over the jealousy of her coming into his part of the stable and she has finally gotten over her message to ‘don’t mess with me mate’!
Awww beautiful Lucy. You’ve got me hooked on this blog if we have more from her. She’s wonderful.
