Hello, is anything working?

So, it’s back to modern life with a bump, after last week’s stress-free and scenic sojourns.

It’s only Tuesday, and I’m starting to realise that the lack of computers, telephones, and other modern technology was very much a good thing while we were away.

I returned home to find that not only does my webmail not recognise my login details, but it refuses to connect to the server from Outlook Express, too.

At work, my laptop has been down in IT for two days after power issues away from its mains-powered dock, meaning that it crashes regularly when I work elsewhere. The diagnosis isn’t good; it needs a new hard drive.

All of a sudden, I have a yearning for the simple life up north, herding the sheep, growing vegetables, or making cheese and other products to sell on farmers’ markets spanning the hills and valleys.

I don’t know about modern life being rubbish; at the moment, modern technology certainly is.
